There are a number of Diabetes Group Education Sessions held for the benefit of those with type 2 diabetes. These group sessions are held in various locations.
You may be referred to a group education session soon after you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Sometimes those who have had type 2 diabetes for some time are referred for a ‘refresher course’. You will be informed of the the time and the place for your group session.
Don’t panic! Group sessions can be a bit daunting at first – but you will soon relax. They are really good fun and you can learn so much from others who are living with diabetes.
Group Education Sessions
Diabetes affects all aspects of your life. It is important that you know how to manage your own diabetes. To help you with this we run education sessions for small groups of people to keep you up-to-date and help you manage your diabetes day-to-day. These group sessions also give you the opportunity to talk with others about how they cope with diabetes. You can learn a lot in this way.
The group education sessions are held at –
- The Ulster Hospital (morning)
- The Health and Care Centre in Newtownards (afternoon)
- Bangor Hospital (afternoon)
- At various locations within the Ards Peninsula (afternoon)
At least two sessions are advised to cover all the important topics. The sessions are very informal and you can contribute to the discussions or simply sit back and listen to the talks and the views of others with diabetes. You are also invited to bring a family member or friend with you. All will be made very welcome with tea and coffee provided.
