Coffee cuts diabetes risk |
Drinking seven or more cups of coffee a day halves the risk of type 2 diabetes in those of us who are obese and inactive. This is the conclusion of a study in Finnish men and women published in the International Journal of Obesity. The same effect has been shown in folks from the United States. I like a cup of coffee but seven or more cups a day seems a lot! Anyhow - for coffee addicts there seems to be a benefit in reducing the risk of developing diabetes.

If you don't like coffee then try green tea! |
If you don't like coffee you can still reduce your risk of developing diabetes by drinking green tea. A large study from Japan shows that green tea is associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes – especially in women. People who said they drank more than six cups of green tea a day were a third less likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those who drank very little green tea. Green tea protects against diabetes because like coffee it contains caffeine. |

All Novo Nordisk animal insulins for the chop |
Novo Nordisk is to withdraw its entire range of animal insulins in the UK from the end of December 2007. These are Porcine Actrapid ® 10ml vial, Porcine Mixtard® 10ml vial and Porcine Insulatard® 10ml vial. These products will not be available after the end of December 2007 .This is unfortunate. Some people with diabetes depend on animal insulins and find them much better in managing their diabetes. Don't panic – if you are on an animal insulin manufactured by Novo Nordisk then contact us and we will find you an alternative insulin. Wockhardt UK Ltd has stepped into the breach and has committted itself to maintaining a full range of animal insulin. Well done – Wockhardt UK Ltd!
