Local Diabetes Services
Do you live within the South Eastern Health Trust area? Do you live in North Down, the Ards or in East Belfast? Then here you will find information on your local diabetes services. The South Eastern Trust Diabetes Service provides a full range of specialist services to support all those with diabetes living within our area. Click on a service below for more details. We run general diabetes outpatient clinics at the Ulster Hospital and at both the Ards and Bangor Community Hospitals. You can attend the clinic that is most convenient to you. We also run specialist clinics for those at high risk of diabetes complications. There is also a full range of diabetes specialist nurse run clinics.
This special clinic is run in the Ulster Hospital Maternity Outpatient Department every Wednesday afternoon starting at 12.30pm. As soon as you find out you are pregnant ring 028 90564864 and get booked in for the next clinic.
A clinic for younger people with diabetes is held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Ulster Hospital. It runs from 2pm to 4.30pm.
The Diabetes Cardiovascular clinic is a special clinic for those with diabetes who need additional help controlling their blood pressure or cholesterol levels. The clinic is run by Michelle Lemon who is a Diabetes Specialist Nurse and by Rosemary Donnelly who is a Pharmacist.
Group education sessions are available for patients with type 2 diabetes. These group sessions are held in a number of different locations within our area.

The Ulster Community and Hospitals Trust provides a comprehensive Help and Advice Service for all of our patients with diabetes. If you have any questions or queries about your diabetes or about any aspect of your diabetes treatment than do not hesitate to get in touch. If in doubt ring us!
Most people with type 1 diabetes will attend a hospital clinic. If you have type 2 diabetes then you can attend either a hospital diabetes clinic or your GP or both.
